Global Social Witnessing Lab 2020
Mark your calendars to attend a Global Social Witnessing Lab from March 30-April 3, 2020 at Witten/Herdecke University in Germany. The GSW-Lab 2020 is being organized by the Institute for Global Integral Competence (http://www.ifgic.org) in Germany and CMM Institute for Personal & Social Evolution in USA in cooperation with Witten/Herdecke University (https://www.uni-wh.de) in Germany.
‘Global Social Witnessing’ (GSW) is a way to develop human awareness and compassion. We can learn to be with global events within our own body, which then creates an inner mirror of these outer global events. This technique has been particularly used by mediators and therapists but also, more generally, by many global citizens who want to take responsibility for the world crisis in health, wealth and peace at the local and global level.
Those of us working for GSW-Lab 2020 (the event’s name) want to connect researchers and practitioners through a discussion of theoretical and practical questions about the technique of ‘GSW’. The Lab will include researchers from philosophy, psychology, sociology, biology, neuroscience, political science, communication science, and art science who will be invited to join in discussion with spiritual teachers, therapists, artists, political activists, and journalists.
One goal of this Lab is the establishment of ‘Cosmopolitan Education’. In the 21st century the university has a major responsibility for creating spaces in which a cosmopolitan society can be prepared for the future; where students can practice ‘global social witnessing’ in order to develop human capacity to attend mindfully to global events with embodied awareness. If our future is to be cosmopolitan, we need to establish cosmopolitan education in the university.
